Why? You will receive up to date class reminders about assignments and assessments. Also, when you sign up, your child receives a homework pass! Parent Update: last nine weeksDear Parents,
Our focus during this nine weeks will be to review and reteach the necessary standards and skills to prepare for the reading FSA. For the most part, we will work with one story or theme each week and the skills will relate to it through classwork, homework and assessments. All assessment dates have been posted in student agendas, in the classroom, on this website, in the grade book and will be updated through the Remind notifications. Please check with your child each night to ask what we did in class and what homework they have. After the FSA exams we will spend the final 4 weeks of the school year reading and discussing literature in "book circles". There will be daily assignments with higher level questions to discuss and prepare them for 7th grade. Creative projects will be part of our book circles as well. Thank you for supporting your child throughout this school year! Very Respectfully, Mrs. Perkins Parent Update: The Third Nine WeeksDear Parents,
Our focus during the third nine weeks will be to prepare for the FSA writing exam which takes place at the end of February. We prepare for it to be explanatory or argumentative because the prompt is not revealed until we take the test! We will be fine tuning the writing process, elaboration and transition techniques, citing strong evidence and creating well crafted introductions and conclusions. Please support your child's work by allowing them time to write at home. These assignements may have due dates that seem far off, but putting off that work will make the night before it is due quite difficult and will decrease the quality of their work. To prevent this, please ask your child about their assignments and check my assignments page on this website. I'm looking forward to working together for another successful semester! They are totally 6th grade middle school students now. The adjustment period from elementary school is complete and we are moving forward with true middle school expectations for responsibilities and quality of work. Best, Mrs. Perkins Parent Update: The Second Nine WeeksDear parents,
As your children learn more and becomes better adjusted to the demands of middle schools, we also adjust our class expectations and pacing. Please read the letter I sent home with all students at the start of the second nine weeks. A parent or guardian signature is required and was due last week but an extension has been granted until Tuesday, October 25th. Thanks!
